Dr Andrea Shepperson presents Updates in Tooth Wear, a full-day presentation from 9 am to 5 pm for our MSSC members.

A one-day presentation to the Seattle Study Club, Melbourne, Australia.

Review current science and clinical practice for assessing tooth wear, including both simple and complex aetiologies and new diagnostic tools. Use a simple decision tree to evaluate physiologic from pathologic wear, reviewing the application of digital monitoring and biomarker tools to assess active or historical wear.


Discuss the latest digital occlusion technologies to evaluate functional and parafunctional activity and vertical loss. Review techniques for setting new vertical positions, including the role of orthodontics and digitally guided design and solutions.
Evaluate interdisciplinary design and planning with third-party applications, as well as simple desktop tools. Novel materials will be discussed, including new 3D-printed hybrid ceramic materials and techniques to provide patients with staging and transitional solutions to make reconstruction affordable.

Dr Andrea Shepperson is one of New Zealand’s best-known dentists and educators, with a referral-based clinical practice managing tooth wear and interdisciplinary reconstruction of the worn dentition. She is the Author of Managing Tooth Wear: A Comprehensive Guide for General Practice.

A graduate of the University of Otago, Andrea is the owner of Shepperson Education, a dedicated teaching facility on Waiheke Island, Auckland, New Zealand. She runs intensive two- and three-day events for clinicians with a strong focus on clear implementation and evidence to support clinical strategies. She is a mentor and alumna of the internationally renowned Kois Center in Seattle, USA, New Zealand’s only Digital Smile Design KOL and Master, running New Zealand’s first DSD Clinic. She is an Honorary Life Member of the NZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and a Global Ambassador for Slow Dentistry. A contributing author to Practical Procedures In Aesthetic Dentistry, she contributes to publications, podcasts, webinars, and expert panels in the development of dentistry.

We are a study club, a supportive group where we aim to challenge and learn from one another. Please come prepared with 2-3 slides on an interesting case. Members will have 10 minutes to present to the group with 5 minutes of follow-up question time.
